The poetic Genki-nobori exhibition at Château La Coste
From September 3 to 30, 2026, Château La Coste hosts a singular and inspiring exhibition: the Genki-nobori. Born from the collaboration between Japanese artist Susumu Shingu and La Source Garouste association, this exhibition combines art, poetry, and social commitment.
What are Genki-nobori?
Genki-nobori reinvent traditional Japanese windsock-shaped carp (koinobori) in a contemporary form: long floating fabric banners in white, decorated with drawings, paintings, and poetic messages.
These 70 colorful banners are not the work of a single artist. They were imagined and created during collaborative workshops by a hundred children and teenagers facing social or school challenges, accompanied by 10 professional artists across La Source Garouste’s various sites.
A Dance with Nature
At Château La Coste, these banners are displayed in two distinct locations on the estate, moving gently in the wind. They engage directly with Susumu Shingu’s permanent kinetic sculptures already installed on the site—a harmony between collective art and the poetry of movement.
It’s the perfect opportunity for visitors to discover or rediscover this unique place: a wine estate cultivating modern art at every corner.
